The consistently top quality Ninja Tune label are releasing a gargantuan box set to celebrate 20 years of beat broadness.

The list of artists involved is frankly, ridiculous. For a start, there’s new music by Amon Tobin, Roots Manuva, Mr Scruff, The Bug, King Geedorah (MF Doom), Zomby, Jaga Jazzist, Bonobo, Toddla T, Daedelus, The Cinematic Orchestra, Kid Koala, Floating Points, Jammer, Two Fingers, Wagon Christ, Eskmo, The Heavy, cLOUDDEAD and more.

Then there’s new remixes from Switch, Autechre, Benga, Actress, Modeselektor, Cut Chemist, Diplo, Gold Panda, Mark Pritchard, Prefuse 73, Todd Edwards, Joe Goddard, Mala, El-B, El-P, The Orb, Tom Middleton, Micachu, King Jammy, Scuba and more.

The piece comprises three hardcover cases in a hardback box, with foil-blocked text. Case one contains six CDs of new music, four of which will be released as two standalone compilations in the future (with more exclusives and past material).

Case two features six 7” singles of new material, plus an inner pocket with a Ninja Tune family tree poster by Nigel Peake, and a Ninja Tune XX sticker sheet. Then case three contains the hardback edition of Black Dog publishing book Ninja Tune: 20 Years of Beats and Pieces, by Stevie Chick. Again, the hardback edition is exclusive to the box.

Original article and competition can be found at FACT magazine’s website.

“It shimmers around the soul and brings you up slowly but surely. Once you’re up, it’s a pure gliding experience for at least an hour. The tracks commonly start linear with layers building up to create reinforced walls of blissed-out dreamstate psychedelia.”
Northern Star Records

Psychedelic indie pioneers Sunray chose to work with Electric Sun (previously React Design) to design and create the artwork for their album release in 2007. Having previously released a series of 12″ vinyl and CD singles which were well received on the underground scene, their second long-player was met with critical acclaim from the likes of Uncut, Wire and Record Collector magazines.
A transparent jewel-case was chosen to allow for more imagery inside and the booklet was printed printed 4 colours plus silver. The CD face was printed in a single colour on a white background.

This Farrow-designed special edition of Spiritualized’s ‘Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space’ is available for pre-order on Amazon and features remixes, demo versions and accapellas. It was a great album to begin with, perhaps this is one for the major Spiritualized fans. I’m not sure it’s an improvement on the original white version with the 3″ CDs in pill-tray type packaging, but it is certainly no less beautiful.
